Well, I am officially now in the Master Knitting program. I bought my yarn today - it is Cascade 220 in Natural. I am going to try to knit it on an 8 first, then move to a 7 if I need to. I've read that doing the 3rd swatch first is a good idea because the seed stitch can't have holes, so that is what I am going to do first.
Unfortunately, all this planning and figuring out is going to be put on hold for a little bit. I have two trigger fingers (the ring fingers on both hands) have reached critical mass. To put it mildly, they hurt like hell and after 3 shots of cortizone in each, the doctor has said it is not working. SO, I am off to surgery tomorrow - basically going into the palm of the hand and cutting the sheath that holds the tendons for the finger is going to be cut. These sheaths are the only place on the entire body that can be cut and not have a crazy adverse effect.
Here is a good definition of the whole trigger finger: Trigger finger, or trigger thumb, is a type of stenosing tenosynovitis in which the sheath around a tendon in a thumb or finger becomes swollen, or a nodule forms on the tendon. It is called trigger finger because when the finger unlocks, it pops back suddenly, as if releasing a trigger on a gun.
And hurts a ton.... my words not theirs :-)
So, I will have immediate relief but it may take a little bit to get back to knitting. Not long, but just enough to heal. I am ready, the pain has been pretty hard this time around.
Oh well, more after the surgery :-)
